A Proclamation Designating September 26th – October 1, 2011 as Community Pride Week in the City of Clarksville, Texas
WHEREAS, health, safety and a clean environment are essential in any community and a very necessary investment for the development and growth of our youth, and;
WHEREAS, clean up projects foster a community’s commitment to assist local government and volunteers in making their community a better place to live and work, and;
WHEREAS, by participating in Community Pride Week, citizens will raise awareness of the importance of historic sites of interest, improving and maintaining properties, anti- littering campaigns and volunteer service.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ann Rushing, Mayor of the City of Clarksville, Texas do hereby proclaim September 26th – October 1st 2011, as Community Pride Week in Clarksville. I call upon all community members to assist the PRIDE Organization, whose efforts have been an inspiration to us all, the newly formed Arkansas Beautification Committee and the Red River County Historical Society in promoting a clean, attractive, safe and healthy community. I further urge all citizens to support the Red River County Historical Society, PRIDE, Arkansas Beautification Committee, Clarksville Rotary, Main Street, Red River County Chamber of Commerce and the City of Clarksville in preparation for the Annual Fall Bazaar and the Main Street Mixer during the month of October.
I encourage all citizens to promote and support the Clarksville Independent School District and the students at Clarksville Elementary School as they too recognize this week through various projects to be acknowledged during Tiger Citizenship Week in May of 2012.
I encourage all residents to attend the annual Fall Bazaar, sponsored by the Red River County Historical Society, which will be held around the Historic Red River County Courthouse in Clarksville on Saturday, October 1, 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and the Main Street Mixer, Historic Clarksville Square, October 15th, 3:00 until 5:00 p.m.
