Algaier dies Tues 9/10/2013.

City Code Enforcement Officer Larry Algaier collapsed in his office at City Hall late Tuesday Morning and died.

First responders were reportedly called to City Hall and to Algaier’s office between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. where Algaier reportedly had fallen to the floor in his office and lay unconscious.

According to reports, city workers immediately began administering CPR, and, when EMT’s arrived they continued CPR in the office and in the ambulance as they transported him to ETMC-Clarksville. But Algaier reportedly did not respond, and was pronounced dead at the ETMC ER.

Tuesday afternoon City Mayor Ann Rushing said, “It was all such a shock, and we will be so greatly missed by all of us. He was so willing to help out with anything and so involved with the community needs like Main Street, and with tourism and Rotary.”

Rushing said the city hired Algaier about five years ago to start the Clarksville Code enforcement operations.

At press time Tuesday funeral arrangements were pending.
