The Red River County Historical Society was founded in 1961 with the purpose of preserving the rich history of Red River County. Since that time, the Society has been instrumental in saving many renowned landmarks, preserving vintage photographs, and leading the way in historical tourism. The Historical Society meets on the first Thursday of each month at 5:00 p.m. at the Lennox House at 601 West Broadway in Clarksville
Since 1980, the Society has hosted its annual Fall Bazaar on the first Saturday in October on the streets surrounding the Red River County Courthouse on North Walnut Street. Funds raised from this annual event help to preserve many historical buildings.
